Gangstercast 06 - Mark Farina

Mark Farina, a true pioneer and long standing House Gangster is in the hot seat for episode 6 of the Gangstercast and we're extremely proud to have him on-board.  Mark's mixes are the stuff of legend and have seen him touring the globe as one of Chicago's best loved musical exports for many years.  Now based in San Francisco, Chicago still provides his roots to the House Gangster sound, "For me, the House Gangster movement means capturing the spirit of the days when there were true gangsters listening to house in chicago in the late eighties.  White, latino, black...the only sound of the underground in the streets was house music.  The sound has a certain rawness, toughness, trackyness and attitude that combines into a certain style of house."

Regarding his Gangstercast, Mark says the tracks are, "Selected goodies from my arsenal of new underground jammies. No special planning though. Pick a starting point and go from there, with just a vibe in mind to fit this Gangstercast."

And his view on house music, you may just have heard it before: "In the beginning, there was Jack, and Jack had a groove. And from this groove came the groove of all grooves. And while one day viciously throwing down on his box, Jack boldly declared, "Let there be HOUSE!" and house music was born."
